Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) September 26, 2013
Quality Care for Children (QCC), an Atlanta-based non-profit organization working to improve the quality and accessibility of child care programs across Georgia, today announced the launch of its All Georgia Kids native mobile application, which is available for free in the Apple iTunes app store. The new app, which allows families to search and compare more than 6,000 child care programs in Georgia, is the first of its kind in the state, and similar to only two others in the nation. The All Georgia Kids app is an extension of the popular 1-877-ALL-GA-KIDS (1-877-255-4254) and AllGaKids.org resources, which also feature many after-school programs and summer camps.
The All Georgia Kids app was developed through Mobilize Developing Community, a mobile technology-themed hackathon that was created by Atlanta-based advertising agency 22squared to benefit local non-profit organizations. Held in Midtown in November 2012, the weekend-long competition brought together 65 local developers professionals and students from local universities to create free mobile solutions for local non-profit organizations to assist them with cause awareness, fundraising and driving volunteerism. Quality Care for Children, Imagine It! The Children’s Museum of Atlanta, the Center for Puppetry Arts, Georgia Organics, and Atlanta Music Project were the five organizations selected from a pool of 16 mid-size non-profits that applied to participate in Mobilize. These organizations were paired with developer teams. At the end of the weekend, judges from Google, Microsoft, Coca-Cola, Georgia Tech and TechBridge selected the winning team, RocketJeep, a five-man group that had developed an app for QCC. Beginning in January 2013, the winning team, QCC and 22squared collaborated to create the All Georgia Kids app.
We know that to really help busy parents find the high-quality, accessible child care they want, we have to provide them with the resources they need, said Pam Tatum, president and CEO, Quality Care for Children. As a non-profit organization, we are so thankful to 22squared and the team of developers for making the new All Georgia Kids app possible for us and for all Georgia families.
